PRESIDENT BUHARI EXTENDS IGP ADAMU’S TENURE FOR 3-MONTHS
- PSO to the IGP, Idowu Owohunwa now a Commissioner of Police.
- A new Police IGP may be appointed in May, 2021.
President Muhammandu Buhari has extended the tenure of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Mohammed Adamu for three months. With this, a new Police IGP won’t be appointed til May, 2021.
The Minister of Police Affairs, Maigari Dingyadi disclose this on Thursday 4th February, 2021 while briefing State House correspondents at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
He said the decision of the President to extend the IGP’s tenure was necessary to give room for the proper selection of a successor.
The Inspector general of police, IGP Adamu has since then settled down in his office and on Thursday 4th February, 2021 decorated the Principal Staff Officer (PSO) to the IGP, Idowu Owohunwa and the Force Education Officer, Rabi Umar, with the newly promoted rank as Commissioner of Police at the Force Headquarters, Abuja.
Also decorated along side are ACP (Dr.) Adegbite Tunde Titus, ACP (Dr.) Chinonyerem Lawrence Welle and the Personal Assistant to the Force Public Relations Officer, DSP Aderoju Olagunju amongst others.
According to a statement from the Force Public Relations department, “The officers decorated are part of the newly promoted by the Police Service Commission.” it stated.
