Ogun State Police Command, through DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi the command Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) on Thursday 19th November, 2020 in Abeokuta announced the ban on vehicles with tinted glass as well as unregistered vehicles and motorcycles in the State.
The Command said that anybody caught driving a tinted glass or an unregistered vehicle, motorcycle will be arrested and prosecuted, and the car or motorcycle impounded.
Oyeyemi said that the Command made the decision due to the increase and reckless use of unregistered cars which he said are used most times to carry out heinous crimes, citing a recent incident where an ICT lecturer was killed by unknown gunmen who at the time of the crime drove an unregistered Lexus jeep.
He also said that the Area Commanders and DPOs throughout Ogun state have been directed by CP Edward Awolowo Ajogun, the Commissioner of Police to enforce the rule, stating that anyone who goes against it will be apprehended and prosecuted according to the laws that govern the state.
Yewa Focus Magazine thereby appeals to the Royal fathers, Community leaders, Political leaders and Youth leaders in Yewa-Awori land to urgently call on youths and other owners of motorcycles, since motorcycle is one of the means of livelihood in the Senatorial District, that they should remain a law abiding citizen and go to the nearby Local Government Areas to register and obtain relevant papers for their motorcycles.
