 Mr. David Ajibola Akinremi, a retired Commissioner of Police and former Commissioner of Police, Taraba State Police Command in the North Central Geo-Political Zone of the Country has been appointed by His Excellency, Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun as the Commandant of the Amotekun Security outfit for Ogun State.

The Chief of Staff to the Governor, Alhaji Shuaib Salisu, disclosed this while featuring on a live Television programme in Abeokuta, the state capital.

He said the commencement of the outfit in the State is expected to fortify the existing security architecture and address the challenges headlong.

Alhaji Salisu maintained that the State government would not fold its hands and allow criminals have free days, saying ‘’the days of criminals are numbered.

Isaac Oseni, Press Officer, Office of the CoS in a statement stated that the CoS disclosed that the government had procured 100 Patrol vehicles, 200 Motorcycles and Communication gadgets to enhance its operations, adding that Amotekun would have formations in all the 20 Local Government Areas of the state.

According to him, this formed part of strategies adopted by the State government to curb criminality, noting that over 20,000 youths have been employed through Ogun Jobs Portal.

The Chief of Staff added that many infrastructural projects inherited from past administrations would be completed by the end of the first quarter of 2021, while the newly initiated projects would not be neglected.

Besides, he disclosed that Owode-Ilaro road, Odo-Afa road in Yewa axis, Epe-Ijebu-Ode road, Molusi College road in Ijebu division and Sagamu interchange-Siun-Abeokuta road, Lafenwa-Rounder road are all receiving robust attention of the government.
